Beta Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi
THE GODFATHER CHAPTER
The Beta Tau Chapter was founded March 13, 1947 and introduced to the campus of Philander Smith College on March 15, 1947. Beta Tau was an envisioned dream of several Kappa men throughout the state of Arkansas including Howard “Squat” Johnson and our beloved Dr. Oba B. White, past Southwestern Province Polemarch, Elder Watson Diggs Award and Laurel Wreath Award wearer. Beta Tau continues to live the “Dream” of our most revered 10 founders of Kappa Alpha Psi. Beta Tau has been the cornerstone of doctors, lawyers, ministers, entertainers, athletes and various student leaders in its history. With over 62 years of burning tradition the Beta Tau Chapter is often referred to as the “Godfather” Chapter or just BT. We are the first undergraduate chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in the state of Arkansas. Beta Tau has blinded all other fraternities with its rich heritage and teachings and has always been involved in its community.
Today, Beta Tau has been able to endure change and yet continue to evolve as not only a premier fraternity but as a community involved organization. Living in the principles of PHI NU PI our beloved Beta Tau chapter seeks men who understand tradition but who are also advancing our Beta Tau Chapter through their own pledge of Brotherhood. A work in progress the Beta Tau Chapter is constantly seeking “ACHIEVEMENT” until then we will settle for achieving as this will give future members of Beta Tau a “Dream” to continue. If you KAN make it here, you KAN make it anywhere!
